I was stunned by the performance of Beauty and the Beast at the Arden Theater. This theater at 40 N. 2nd street in Old Philadelphia is beautiful and a great place to go with friends and family. Most of all I was surprised by the creativity through which they performed the play and the special effects that came into play. It was filled with humor and the actors did a great job of keeping the audience engaged. Some of the plays at the Arden theater include Under the Skin by Michael Hollinger, Macbeth by William Shakespeare, and The Jungle Book by Greg Banks. I can’t wait to go see Macbeth and to see how The Arden will creatively bring Shakespeare to life. Beauty and the Beast will stay at the Arden Theater until February 8th. Also there a lot of exciting things happening at The Academy of Natural Sciences! The special exhibits at the Academy of Natural Sciences in my experience are always super interactive and include hands on activities to make the learning process very active. If you enjoy the Franklin Institute then you need to take the time to come down the street to this neighbor museum. Amazing science museums are real gems and you should take advantage of the STAMP pass and use this opportunity to explore this beautiful museum. Also in February on President’s day weekend (Sat and Sun only Feb 14 and 15) there are two special things happening: Paleopalooza and the opening of the newest exhibit Titanoboa: Monster Snake (which also has live snakes in the exhibit).
