We’ve got 20 tickets to give to STAMP passholders for the February 12 Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Performance at the Kimmel Center! See below for information on how to receive tickets.
Join the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) for an afternoon of Russian masterpieces. Lead by Maestro Louis Scaglione in his 20th anniversary season, PYO will perform Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1, written as a requirement for his graduation from the Petrograd Conservatory at the age of 19. The orchestra then performs Prokofiev’s Second Suite from Romeo and Juliet. Derived from his ballet, the music depicts the star-crossed lovers’ passion for each other, pure outrage of their opposing families, and their ultimate tragic death. The program concludes with the dazzling Suite from The Firebird by Stravinsky, which is based on a Russian folk legend involving a Prince, an immortal and evil King, demons, enchanted princesses, and the magical Firebird!
