Did you guys have fun Saturday? If you didn’t know, Saturday was Discover A.C.T Day! It took place at the University of the Arts. What was it exactly? It was a day where teens all around Philadelphia could learn more about STAMP and organizations like Girls Rock Philly, Arden Theatre, and so much more! Each organization had their own table and talked about who they are and what they have to offer for teens. There’s a lot of opportunities such as volunteering over the summer and after school programs. Each organization had flyers and applications that they handed out to teens that were interested! It was such a great learning experience. I got to know more about programs I hadn’t heard of.
There was even a photobooth and pin-making areas. I made at least 10 pins and took three photobooth pictures with my friends! Each site had different activities also, such as NMAJH. They had baseballs and markers set up on their table and teens could design their own baseballs! Mighty Writers had two videos playing for anyone who wanted to listen to some problems that the community/state has been going through such as court cases. Asian Arts Initiative had a cross stitching activity.
On top of the fun activities and great learning experience, there were free pretzels and water! So if you were hungry or thirsty, you could just grab a pretzel or a bottle of water and keep looking around! Overall, I had a great time Saturday. I came home with so many applications and flyers! Did you guys have fun too? Let us know in the comments!
