Looking for ways to boost your resume? YOUTHadelphia is recruiting new committee members for next school year!

Just because it is summer break doesn’t mean you have to let your brain completely shut down! Now is the time to start thinking about how your going to make next school year 10x better than this one and YOUTHadelphia has the perfect opportunity! YOUTHadelphia, the youth advisory committee of the Fund for Children, includes high school students from a wide range of Philadelphia neighborhoods, schools, and youth organizations. YOUTHadelphia engages youth in grantmaking activities and provides leadership-development opportunities as well as a forum for youth dialogue and action. YOUTHadelphia Spring 2014 awarded $50,000 for ten youth-led and youth-engaged projects addressing four areas chosen by the participants: Arts & Culture, Mental Health, Mentoring, and Young Women Empowerment. Read the grant announcement here. High school-aged youth who are committed to civic participation are invited to apply. Interested applicants should complete the application and return it, along with a letter of recommendation, by Aug. 1, 2014. The application is also available on the Join YOUTHadelphia page on The Philadelphia Foundation website. Interviews will take place during the month of August. Youth interested in either the Fall or Spring Committee are encouraged to submit an application. Both committees will be decided upon by Sept. 1, 2014. Fall YOUTHadelphia:

  • Meets every Thursday, except Thanksgiving, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. from September through December 2014, in addition to two Saturday meetings during this timeframe
  • Is comprised of 12 Philadelphia teens
  • Makes five grants of up to $10,000

Spring YOUTHadelphia:

  • Meets every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. from January through June 2015
  • Makes ten grants of up to $5,000
