Let Me Take You On A Journey.

Let Me Take You On A Journey.

My museum, The National Jewish American History Museum, is all about telling a story of a group of people, what I’ve realized lately is that although we can get a good scope on an entire group, we never get a personal look into one person’s singular journey. With all these thoughts in my head I decided to write poems that I’ll post here entitled “Let me take you on a journey”. Thanks to Awa, I found out we can share poetry and that’s what I plan to do for a while, I think it’s the best way I can get others to understand that we’re all alike some way or another, and that everyone has a story to tell. With all that said here’s something I wrote:

I want to show you how to open your eyes
There is a picture we have made
You,
Me,
Everyone,
It is a picture we’ve all painted since the day we were born
I want to teach you how to lean back so far that you can see the entirety of it
To see, you must first breathe
Inhale.
Exhale.
But sometimes you get stuck in the middle
In the middle where there seems to be no escape
But realize that this is just a breathe
Now open your eyes ,
Open your eyes and with an unperturbed gaze and take in what we have made
And realize that this is just a rough copy
That it’s an unfinished portrayal,
When you see this image,
When you are able to breathe in its presence,
You are wide awake.

Before I go, I’d like to know your input on what this poem was about. When writing it, I believed it was about getting the viewer  ready to read  the rest of my poetry without  obscured views from  society.
