Joy of Teaching

Joy of Teaching

Working at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) has helped me realize how much I enjoy working with children and in the education department. My job has also inspired me to explore my interest in being an elementary school teacher and the possibility of going to college to study education. While working with kids all summer I gained valuable skills that will further help me in my path to a career in education. Through my job at PAFA I have learned how to contribute a variety of skills such as patience, teamwork, organization, and communication into my daily task and these skills will also be valuable throughout the rest of my life.  PAFA is unique because it’s a school and a museum. Having the opportunity to work at a place with the benefits of both a school and a museum has shown me the entire behind the scenes work and organization that goes into the programs and work of non-profits and the world of education. Also, it’s shown me that education can’t be approached by one method for each student, especially in the world of art, each student is different and it’s important to have patience, understanding, and an open mind when doing art with a range of different aged students from different backgrounds. To conclude, PAFA has given me many tools I can take into other parts of my life and also to any future opportunities that I may explore in the area of education, art and management
